  • 8 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz (about 225g) linguine or your choice of pasta
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil (vegetable or canola oil)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Steak and Shrimp:

  • In a bowl, combine the teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, and grated fresh ginger. This will be your teriyaki marinade.
  • Slice the steak into thin strips and place them in a shallow dish. Pour half of the teriyaki marinade over the steak and let it marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  • Reserve the remaining teriyaki marinade for later.

2. Prepare the Pasta and Veggies:

  • Cook the linguine or pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet or wok, heat one tablespoon of cooking oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Add the red bell pepper and broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften. Remove the veggies from the skillet and set them aside.

3. Cook the Steak and Shrimp:

  • In the same skillet, add the remaining one tablespoon of cooking oil.
  • Remove the marinated steak strips from the marinade and add them to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  • Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.
  • Add the marinated shrimp to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque.

4. Create the Teriyaki Sauce:

  • Pour the reserved teriyaki marinade into the skillet and let it simmer for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.

5. Combine and Serve:

  • Return the cooked steak and sautéed veggies to the skillet. Add the cooked pasta and toss everything together to coat with the teriyaki sauce.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro or parsley.
